The good news is I really like to repair and rebuild rods.  The bad news is many old rods are just not
worth doing much with from a value perspective.

Two ways to look at it:

1.  If you have a rod that means something to you because it was your dads or a favorite uncles, and
you want it repaired or rebuilt, cost may not be the primary consideration.

2.  If you have a bamboo rod you like, or want to fish bamboo but don't want to invest in a new rod,
having an old rod fixed up may be the answer.

There are two ways to deal with an old rod:

1.  Make it good enough to hang on the wall.

2.  Make it ready to fish.

Almost any rod can be prettied up well enough to hang on the wall as a remembrance of the good
times with Uncle Mervin, and it can usually be done at a relatively reasonable cost.

On the other hand returning an old rod to fishing condition can be much more problematic and
costly.   An evaluation of the rod is needed to determine what needs to be done and make a cost
estimate.  I will do an evaluation for $50.00, plus $10.00 return shipping, and you pay the shipping to
me.   If I work on the rod the $50.00 goes toward the repair or rebuild.

Since I will not normally disassemble a rod for an evaluation, and some problems may not be
apparent until the rod is taken apart (ferrule replacement or grip repairs are examples of why your
rod may be taken apart) - an estimate is an estimate.  If it turns out additional work is needed I will
call you with an updated cost before doing any more work and you can decide if you want me to
proceed.  If you do not want the work done, I will return the rod and keep the $50.00 as the
evaluation fee.

Payment is due when the work is complete.  When I receive payment I will mail the rod to you.
Completion notification will be by return receipt mail and/or delivery verified E-mail.   If payment is
nor received or arrangements made and documented 90 days from the date of completion
notification the rods will be sold or otherwise disposed of.

Unless otherwise arranged, any repair or rebuild will include stripping the rod, redoing the windings
with the color of your choice or as close a match to what is on the rod as I can get without traveling
to Tibet or someplace, new guides if needed, and two, three, or four dip coats of varnish depending
on if it is going on the wall or to the river.

Call me or send a picture of the rod and a description of what you want done.  Please don't send a
rod until we have talked .  Frankly - as much as I like to do repair and rebuilds - there are some rods
(and maybe people) I just don't want to fuss with.

As I said someplace else in here, I don't do restoration work on investment quality collectors rods.
There are folks who specialize in that kind of work and have the patience to look for the right thread
and hardware to bring the rod back to original condition and configuration  - they are artists and
gentlemen.  But I am not one of them - life is too short

If you have a rod you want worked on give me a call or shoot me an e-mail and we can talk it over.

This is a rod I fixed last year.  It has a new reel seat insert, and a new tip section was planed
for it.  Some de-lamination in the mid and butt sections was repaired, and a new ferrule set
fabricated for the tip/mid section.  New guides, tip top, wraps, and 4 dip coats of varnish.  We
really wanted to bring this one back.
