Trout rods made of the best Tonkin cane available, planed to exacting tolerances, finished with high quality hardware components, 6/0 silk thread, and dip finish. I do the tread work, finish the wraps, and then dip the rod. My prices are very competitive. However, each rod is made by me - I hand split and plane the cane - your rod is fabricated utilizing best rod making practices. This takes time and effort, all the hardware and components not fabricated by me come from well known and reputable sources. There are no shortcuts in my shop. A rod you can use the rest of your life and pass on to your son or grandson is my goal. I don't make collector pieces - these rods are made to fish. Give me a call and we can discuss what you want and put a price on it. I will make a rod from a taper of your choice. However, these two piece tapers are rods I make frequently and will most likely have on hand to offer. Two Paul young, one Winston, and one undocumented taper I call number three (it was the third rod I made) in 3, 4, and 5 weight in 6 to 8 foot lengths. The Paul Young tapers are the 6 foot three inch Midge 4 weight, and the 8 foot para 15 five weight. The number 3 is a 7 foot 6 inch 5 weight and the Winston taper is the 6 foot #6032 three weight. The Paul Young and Winston tapers make excellent rods. Their pedigrees speak for them. The number three has proven to be a very well received rod. It is fast, responsive and has a lot of backbone making it a very good all around rod. If you can have only 1 cane rod this may be a good one to look into. I also have tapers of my own in 5 and 6 weight which are designed to provide a light responsive rods with a lot a backbone. All rods come with ferrule plug, sock, and tube. If you think one of these rods may be for you give me a call or e-mail and we can discuss it, or just talk about rod making. If it turns out these rods are not what you are looking for I can tell you about some rod makers who may have the answer for you I want you to have a rod you can use as long as you want to (until you die) and then pass along for some one else to fish with. With proper use and care, a cane rod will last a long time. To that end - if the rod breaks during normal use it will be repaired or replaced cost of material, depending on the circumstances. You pay to ship it to me, I pay to ship it back and I work on it as fast as I can and do a good job. If you break the rod in a car door or chasing off a bear with it, we will figure out a fair cost for the repair or replacement. If you buy one of my rods I feel obliged to give you a fair deal on repairs. I will not charge half the cost of a rod to replace a tip section. Normal use is defined as angling for fish of appropriate size and species for a rod of the size and weight in question. Steel head or Carp fishing with a 3,4, or 5 weight rod is, in my mind, not appropriate. I reckon I will have to take your word here and hope if I price these fairly and deal honestly with you - you will treat me as fairly as I do you. |
